Anyone else noticed all these BBS Networks are mostly bots now??

Should be limited to specific nets

Ummmm, no, I didn't mutter that.

The above was stated by "Hustler", and I replied to him in a
separate post. Not sure why you're replying to me with his quote.

things over and over), I don't see that many bots anymore, like the ones selling prescription drugs and get-rich schemes. But then again, I'm usually just hangin' around a few well-moderated ones, like this one.

I see the drug ones on Dove-net fairly often.... I think it might be because they are gated to fidonet. I can't imagine someone going thru the effort to advertise drugs on Dove-net directly. Although I do think half the people that post there are on something.... Ha!

Maybe I'm not reading the same echoes as you, but most of what I see is that good old fashioned human-on-human action.

I see a bunch of drug ones on Usenet that are bombed into a bunch of
newsgroups and some slip across gateways into FTN networks. The gate I run at 21:1/10 has a ton of spam filtering in it but to be fair it's a bit like playing whack a mole.

In the future we will have AI bots for that (scanning for improper behaviour and proper punishment)

Is there anything left from the usenet non-binary groups after your spam filter is done? :-)

I *did* see a bunch on GameNet when I first joined, but haven't been on

In addition, Avon has gone done a great thing seperating BBS and network ads, from BOT functions (daily jokes, etc..) from Data (interBBS stuff) and network updates. The problem at the moment, hopefully temporary, is that the hubs are blasting the general section and Bot pages as they are switching to docker. I wish they could change to the network stats page for all of this, but it's a temporary thing.

I'm not sure I follow what this problem is re docker? Sorry.

:) well some would say yes, others say more spam, the truth is out there somewhere... the stats echos will show you the volumes coming in to those newsgroups that are post spam filters
