• Syncterm issue? Have u seen this 1?

So... lemme explain a 'thing' I sometimes experience when using Syncterm. It normally happens after I've been logged into *my* bbS for extended periods of time, but sometimes happens quickly too...

When on a new line, such as when entering in a message like I'm doing right now, whenever the cursor is on a new line with no other text on that line, my text doesn't recognize or output first character I type. Arrows won't work, even if I press them multiple times - I MUST enter some character, and THEN Syncterm will allow me to type more text. On the next line, I'm gonna type "test":
    est

Like that. (To start this line I had to type the L twice. If Mystic wraps the line, theres no issue. It only happens when the cursor is on a new line w/ no text. Has anyone else experienced this w/ Sync? And/or, do you know what issue it is or a fix?

Wow, super weird. Does it repro on other BBS softwares as well? I.e., if you use syncterm to connect to enigma or synchronet or anything else, does it still happen?

The version is 1.2b, to answer MATT MUNSON...

And; I really only notice it while connected to 2o; which is a Mystic bbS, and it seems to only happen after I've been logged in for a long time - or, maybe after I've scanned for msgs.

Maybe its the mouse-code I send in my startup.mps / something else that Mystic or some function on MY bbS does that I'm not linking together...

I wanna see other replies to see if anyone else chimes in and has noticed the same or not ; as its prolly in my silly setup.

Have you tried other terminals to see if they do the same thing?
    (Probably a stupid question haha)

    Hey Paulie,

new line w/ no text. Has anyone else experienced this w/ Sync? And/or do you know what issue it is or a fix?

The version is 1.2b, to answer MATT MUNSON...

I've seen written somewhere that 1.2b is buggy and best to use 1.1...

Thanks - I used to stay on 1.1, but wanted the RIP stuff. Maybe I'll test running both of them, and only using 1.2b for the bbSes that need it.

    Good idea for testing.

My favorite "bug" in SyncTERM 1.1 is that the clock at local noon time
does an hour long of 00.xx PM and for 1.2, I sometimes have weird
screen/memory glitches where it for a split second would show an ANSII
or a previous menu. Sometimes even from BBSs i'd just visited before.
I wonder if that is SDL related maybe specific to my setup. It seems that nobody else has seen this issue (a glitch in the matrix)
but yeah, cutting edge often = bleeding edge

Yes; I also think SDL does some weird things w/ SyncTerm. Its much more stable on Windows/MacOS. I've been listening to all the 'glitchy' stuff and it seems like ppl experience DIFFERENT issues than me, and that most of those users are on Linux... makes sense - so many different Linux variables.
