    I still use a 8 bit BBC B Micro to connect to BBS,s using a serial cable to my pc and a hayes emulator again on the PC The BBC has all of 32k of ram but
    boots in less than 1 sec On the BBC I use a ROM based terminal Termulatort
    The BBC I use was built in 1983 by Acorn Computers who went on to design RISC chips If you need any more info Im happy to help.
