• Any OpenSuse/Syncterm users?

    From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Mon Jan 2 17:09:35 2023
    I've been getting into OpenSuse (Tumbleweed) a little bit - its a pretty stable bleeding-edge distro, if that even makes sense... I'm enj0ying it.

    At any rate, I'm trying to build Syncterm on OS - and I've hunted down what I thought were good (needed) SDL, ncurses and other packages - but its failing at the CIOLIB part of make. (Netrunned also fails at CIOLIB....) I've seen both of these before, usually when some dependency hasn't yet been met - does anyone have experience w/ OpenSuse and Sync?

    If so, I'd love the missing ingredient. Cheers.

    Are you properly defining the 'SRC_ROOT' on your make command line?
    This is described in the COMPILING text file in the source directory.

    Yea, I was... I got it built- it was three needed patches for a few .c libraries.

    If any OpenSuse users are hunting, those patches can be found by Googling 'OpenSuse Syncterm' and they are on a closed ticked on the Syncterm ticket pages. :P

    I don't REALLY know how to use .patch files, but I was able to manually read the '-' and '+' lines to make the 3 edits... I'll have to learn the proper way to add a patch to a build sometime soon. :P

    ciolib is part of the Synchronet source tree, so I doubt very much that Netrunner is using it. For SyncTERM build issues, see Deuce in #synchronet at irc.synchro.net

    Understood - I was able to get it compiling with three patches that were listed on the help page;

    https://sourceforge.net/p/syncterm/tickets/31/

    Thanks, DM.
