From Mike Dippel@21:4/176 to ALL on Sat Feb 24 20:39:50 2024
I use the .diz extension when I need to create and upload a zip file to the BBS. Winserver
used to read that file to automatically add the descriptions to the file when I upload it. It
is no longer working as it should.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, using Windows 11, I try to create the .diz file using a text editor. Unlike Windows 10,
Windows 11 saves it as a .txt file not as a .diz file like it should.

I guess Windows 11 takes some getting used to.

    Hi Mike Dippel!

editor. Unlike Windows 10, Windows 11 saves it as a .txt file not as a .diz file like it should.
Are you just using notepad by chance? If so, you will have to save the file type as "All files" in the drop down menu instead of a Text documents (*.txt) otherwise Win11 will save the file with the .txt extension. The all files option allows you to save/edit the .diz extension.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I have noticed that Windows 11 does some things
differently than previous editions. I'll just have to learn the differences and get used to
    it.

Maybe give Notepad++ a try. I've been using it for years, it can replace the native notepad in Windows.

I do have that on all of my machines and will give that a try as well.

Which text editor (it matters) notepad?

    Unlike Windows 10,
Windows 11 saves it as a .txt file not as a .diz file like it should.

I just typed "notepad c:\temp\test.diz" (on Windows 11) and it created the file test.diz, like it should.

I guess Windows 11 takes some getting used to.

Maybe you're not using the command prompt? Doesn't seem like a "Windows 11" thing.
