• New Files Posts

From NuSkooler@21:1/121 to All on Thu Sep 29 11:46:58 2022
Wanting to hear others thoughts about File Stat areas. As-is, it seems most of them that are posted daily are near copies of each other. NASA photo of the day, and other BOT driven files / stuff passed around TICs.

With enig, I let users choose what areas to allow/omit from these posts, so TICs are left out, and I leave out any others from Xibalba. ...so what you're left with is actual new content.

I'd like to know what others think of this, and perhaps we could drive towards something similar to make these useful again.

As an aside: I think it may be time to remind some people that posting their BBS add daily is way too much :D

This is exactly what I do. I used to try to pick through to see anything intersting, but there is just too much spam.... so 'M' = mark read, then move on.

This would be a great on-topic thread for fsx_net... but I understand the desire to post it here :)

Agreed. I'd go further and say that files in general are
not particularly interesting. The only reason I log into
BBSes anymore is for messages and the occasional game.

Agreed. They're good for distributing the nodelists for that particular network, but otherwise I generally don't look at or carry the file echos on
    my board.

I think it depend on the user. I have over 30+ GB downloaded from my board so far. It's not the most popular, but I like to think I have a nice collection that's semi hard to find elsewhere.

The "new files" posts from most of the boards are really just copies of each other though.

Firstly sorry to hear you're unwell Nu, hope you feel better soon.

Yep gen is certainly a space for all sorts of chatter, it's just that I figured if you were asking about if echos should be changed or the stuff posted etc. to it should etc. then the fsx_net echo might be a good vehicle for such a discussion..

But no stress in posting the thread here either.

Oh shoot, gotcha. Yep you're right, I think I read you saying "fsx_net" as "fsxNet" and was like, yep, I'm here!
