Yes, I think of it as the Android equivalent to Apple TV. I'm an Android fan and also really like Nvidia, so this was a natural fit.

I'd be curious to check out what games are available for it. I've always been more of a PC gamer though..

The real test is the wife seal of approval, which I can say is 100% approved. She likes it better than traditional cable, so that is the real win.

I haven't had any type of cable in years.. I feel like I don't really need it, as some of the things I watch are available via over the air broadcast (local news & some game shows, etc.), and some occasional content on streaming.

I have one of the tablets. I have almost never used it. It was given to me a good while back. Get a Steam Deck. Then you can have the controller built in and it just plays all the PC games

I've thought a Steam Deck might be cool, but I also feel like it's basically another PC.. I already have a fairly good desktop PC which I use for gaming (among other things), so I'm not sure how useful it would be to have another device that can run the same games. I also recently hooked up my desktop PC to the TV in my living room.. Currently, my computer/office room is right next to the living room, and my desktop PC is on the other side of the wall where my living room TV is, so I bought a long HDMI cable and a long USB extender so I could use the TV as another monitor and be able to plug in a keyboard & mouse & joystick or whatever and play PC games on my TV if I wanted to.

Most any android game available should work on the Shield. You can connect controllers wired or wireless to it. I'm not much of a gamer, but it is a nice bonus for some people.

I ditched cable and cable TV back in late 2019. One of the best moves I have made in years.

Ah.. I'm not sure how interested I'd be in playing Android games on my TV. Android games are usually made for mobile devices with touch screens and are probably best played that way. And there probably aren't Android equivalents or versions of the types of games I'd usually play on a TV or PC.

I can understand that. The main reason to have one is not to use it in the same place you would your gaming rig. It is a computer. It has an advanced modified Arch based OS that has the option of a full blown desktop or the side that is not. Its has only what is needed to game on the gaming side. This removes all thing that can take processing cycles away from a game.

Yes it does work like the switch so if you want to dock it you can. But if you just want to chill outside one day you can BBS or play a game surf the web, watch shows just like any other PC but portable and powerful.

I love my deck and will probably for quite some time.

My vision isn't so great... as a result without any accessibility
settings to increase the general font sizes in the main display, I
haven't used it much at all and have been thinking of selling mine.
