So looks like my house is pretty damn close to the epicenter of the 5.1 that hit yesterday. My house shook a ton, and my gas emergency shutoff thing was triggered and it took me forever to figure out how to get my pilot light to work again lol.
My dog has recently had surgery and is wearing the big cone of shame. When the quake started, I noticed my dog's cone was rattling, and I looked over at him thinking "wtf is he doing?" but he was looking at me as if to say "wtf is happening with my cone of shame right now?"
Then there was a pretty big shake that lasted a few seconds. Nothing major, no damage, kind of fun in retrospect now that everything is fine lol.
Later in the day there was an aftershock that was very sudden and a big jolt, it didn't have any long term reverberations or any sustained shaking but it felt like a violent fast movement. Pretty crazy.
Anyone near the quake? Anyone live in earthquake prone areas? I know a lot of folks here are from NZ which I believe is pretty active.

Used to live in L.A. where we wouldn't even get out of bed for anything less than a 6. :)
