When Avon gets back or reviews messages, we might have issues in the long run. Let us be mindful if we can.

I know an activity boost may be good, but we should not be chasing people of either side out of the network due to this.

Even when I made a reply I self-censored myself because I knew I would have caused a huge uproar. However on other networks you could read that commentary.

Yeah, this morning was the first time I thought about skipping past
FSX_GEN. It'll be nice to get back to the original intent of this
    network.

I apologize to those "caught in the middle" of these converations. I cannot, and will not, however, stand by and let people just post their hateful messaging without any response. That might make me the bad guy here, but I'm OK with that.

Again, apologies to those here seeing all this garbage.

Yeah, this morning was the first time I thought about skipping past FSX_GEN. It'll be nice to get back to the original intent of this network.

I wonder if there should be a new echo where rules are loosened and political discussions are allowed. Then any such discussions and flame wars can go on there, and those who aren't interested can easily skip it.

Probably not a bad idea. Though I'd still worry about these racist and related posts under the umbrella of "political".

The anti-politics ruling "here" was simply a result of one leftist anti-American Sysop having an effeminate meltdown over a case of being able to dish it out but couldn't take it in return. I think that's what Othernets are for. If people want to say, "I'd like to continue this conversation, so I'll respond in x place on Fidonet", or advertise one of the many other nets, that's probably a net positive for the health of other networks.

I know people mention other nets often, so hopefully people can chime in with which places have good political discussions.

They could all just move over to other echoes on other networks already meant for such purposes and which have looser rules... DOVE Debate, FIDO Politics, etc... and stop doing it here entirely.

I *strongly* suspect the reason that they never do is because they like to run and hide behind the FSX "but politics isn't allowed" rule once they've started an obviously political-adjacent conversation that doesn't go their way, and speech is too free in those forums for their tastes.

My evidence is that it has been suggested multiple times in the past but they never ever wind up moving the trouble they started elsewhere. They *always* start it *here*.

Even in other echos, I feel like people on FidoNet tend to be argumentative a lot - but it might depend on the echo. It got the nickname "Fight-O-Net" for a reason..
