• California Earthquake

So yesterday there was an earthquake in California that we felt just before heading out to for the day.

I have have been browsing the "Packet Radio (X.25 Gateway" and always stop to glance at the earthquake reports to see where they are listed.

One of the first thoughts I had during the earthquake was I cannot wait to
see if this shows up in the Packet Radio echo -- and voila here it is:

    == PRELIMINARY REPORT ==
    ***This event has been revised.
    Event type: Earthquake
    Region: Southern California
    Geographic coordinates: 35.643N, 117.564W
    Magnitude: 6.4
    Depth: 4 km
    Universal Time (UTC): 4 Jul 2019 17:35:02
Time near the Epicenter: 4 Jul 2019 10:35:02
    [/snip]

Good news is this occurred in the middle of the desert region of California
-- but was close enough to Nevada that people in Vegas felt it.

From where I live (about 140 miles / 225 km away) it felt like a long rolling quake that lasted a good almost minute it felt like or half it's hard to tell when experiencing it.

The last time I remember feeling a rolling one like that was on an Easter
many years ago and it occurred near Mexico/California boarder and was so
strong it caused people's residential pools to swish water around all the way in Arizona.

There has been a 7.1 since then. Hope everyone in FSX that is out in Cali
    is OK!

I mentioned in the other post the 7.1 was pretty intensely felt and was about the same distance/location (I think 11 miles difference maybe?)

I have not heard reports of any injuries which was good and glad this was not in a dense populated area.

Take care guys. The video coming out from the event looks freaky.
