• Postie and Bugs.

From apam@21:1/126.1 to All on Sat Nov 28 14:16:19 2020
    Hi guys..

First the bad news. A couple of bugs have been discovered in v0.6. Al discovered that the windows version puts the incorrect TZUTC kludge. I discovered that if there are netmails not addressed to you at the end of
the list, the full screen reader can crash.

I recommend, not useing echomail in talisman windows version until v0.7,
also recommend making the netmail bases only accessable to the sysop.

    Now the good news!

Postie is pretty much finished! I've been running this happyland 2.0 with postie since last night, so it works fine as an endpoint. I've also setup
the happynet hub to run postie, and it's working as a hub between two
    bbses.

So, before I get too excited, I was hoping for some help.. namely asking
people to sign on to happynet (yet again) to see how far we can push it.

Note, you don't need talisman or postie to sign on, I'm just testing the
hub workings at present, but I think postie will be included in v0.7 :)

Email me at apam AT talismanbbs.com if you want to help, and I'll set you
    up a node.

Also, note that WWIV nodes will have to poll, there is some
incompatibility with binkd and networkb with presenting akas.

    I may have.

I'm not sure, I think it might be a different issue, was going to
investigate more soon, but so far what I know is when I poll my happynet
hub, which has two akas (fsxnet and happynet), from the barbed hook
(which has 3 akas, fsxnet, happynet and retronet), binkd (on the happynet
hub) is trying to match retronet.

I'm not really sure what's going on there, it may also be an issue with
    binkd. Or even my config.

Sorry I didn't mention it sooner, I wanted to have more information for
you first. I've just been flat out on this tosser.

No worries at all. It's likely an issue with my code here, as it was onlu originally meant to be for WWIV to WWIV (just using the binkp protocol since it seemed as good as any), but turned out working well enough talking to others.

Don't worry about it, later on when you get the tosser working well, I'd love to spend a few minutes seeing how to reproduce this and fix it. I just looked your patch last time for for fixing CRAM support :) Thanks again for that.

He makes real good ansi art, he could likely make a nice cute logo for it.

Just incase it's not the same over there, a "Postie" is what we call the person who delivers the mail. It's kind of like a genderless Postman or Mailman.

Yeah, didn't he show up sometimes with a post-it note as his background?
