• BBS List overhaul

From apam@21:1/126 to All on Sun Oct 20 12:32:37 2019
    Hi

I've reworked the built in BBS listing in magicka quiet a bit today. As a result it will use a new database (bbslist2.sq3) and leave the old
    bbslist.sq3 alone.

It's safe to delete the bbslist.sq3, but I left it there if you want to
    move data across manually.

The new BBS list has more information, and an option to "verify" a bbs,
which is just a way of saying "it's still there"

I am planning to have some kind of automatically added listings, via
fsx_dat. You will be able to advertise your BBS on fsx_dat and those who
choose to can import entries. That is still in the works though.

sounds cool... I spent today (and am still doing so) hosting visiting
family.. so not too much BBS time this weekend. Did some tidying up of the computer area today when I did have some spare time. Hoping to get back to my Linux box in the coming days.

It's pretty much the same idea as Xqtr's xBBSList thing (the
bbs_ping_project posts). Ideally I'd be able to import those posts as
well, but I don't know how to decompress them. Not sure if it would work
the other way, as my bbs list thing has much less info.

Your Linux box? Is that what you're eventually planning to move agency
    over to?

Have fun with the family :)

Coolness.. My bbslist.sq3 just has some stuff in it I was looking at so
    I'll delete it.

I'll add my own BBS once I see this stuff is ready.

I've written up a wiki page to explain how to do it. It seems to work ok
    so far.

When adding a BBS at the telnet url stage it just sits there, once I hit enter it never goes any further. I've even tried entering localhost and
the IP address of my test and real BBS.

I think you might need to update your strings file, there's a ton of new
    ones :)

I'll just leave it at the default file now. Thanks.
