• MagiTerm Requests

From Warpslide@21:3/110 to apam on Thu Jul 23 12:17:14 2020
    Heya Andrew,

I've recently switched over to MagiTerm from SyncTerm. I'm loving Doublesize mode.

A couple of requests if I may:

    - Enable pasting when editing/adding an entry to the dialing directory.

I use gnarly generated passwords and would love to be able to paste those in there. I even tracked down the %appdata%\Magicka\MagiTerm\dialdirectory.ini file to see if I could just paste it there, but it seems passwords are stored elsewhere.

    - Add an "Are you sure?" prompt if you press DEL on the dialing directory.

    - Pipe Dream: A MacOS version... ;)

Thanks for MagiTerm, I'm loving it so far!

    Jay

...I'll just piggy back and say similar things, though for all I know it's
not a MagiTerm issue that I'm talking about.

My attempts at sending Home/End keys seem for naught.

And my alt-group keys aren't working (equivalently, CTRL-ALT-key).

But I think I have the same problems in Syncterm. Maybe not the home/end, but alt group works nowhere.

Still, I'm loving being able to copy and paste.

That sound's like a good feature to have

Passwords are stored securely in your OS's password manager, on windows
it's the credential store or something, linux is gnome-keyring, (and mac
when i did that was keychain or something). AFAIK magiterm is the only
bbs terminal that securely stores passwords rather than writing them in plaintext on the disk.

    - Add an "Are you sure?" prompt if you press DEL on the dialing
    directory.

    Ok.

    - Pipe Dream: A MacOS version... ;)

A few people have asked for this. I'm not keen because it was a lot of
trouble, but I'll think about it.

Thanks for MagiTerm, I'm loving it so far!

    You're welcome.

A good idea for these suggestions, ideas etc is to open an issue on
gitlab, that way I'm less likely to forget.

Writing messages is good to, but they tend to get buried if i don't get
around to it right away (And it's likely going to be a bit of time
before I get around to it)

Strange. I could have gotten the key sequences for them wrong, like i
    did with the function keys.

Could you open an issue on gitlab for this?

    Thanks

I had to go back to SyncTerm 1.0 to be able to copy & paste. To me that's a deal breaker. The fuzzy screen didn't help things either.

Now with MagiTerm I can copy & paste all I like and Doublesize mode makes things nice & big (and clear!).

That's actually pretty cool! Seeing as I was able to view & copy my password in Syncterm that doesn't instill a great deal of confidence...

Roger that. I'll open up an issue on there.

It's possible that it's just my computer -- My laptop has a Spanish keyboard layout. Thus probably part of the issue with Alt Group keys.

Could you open an issue on gitlab for this?

Okay, have done. Hopefully I've done it in the right place.

And evidently I didn't have a gitlab account before this, which surprises me. Possible that I just logged in using GitHub or something, though.

But I digress. Thanks for the response.

Yeah, same for me on the copying and pasting. It was too big of an annoyance
to attempt to type things, especially when copying links where all the Is,
Ls, and 1s were hard to tell apart.

The fuzzy screen I mostly didn't notice, though I managed to frequently shift the size of the window or text, somehow, and that was driving me nuts that
it'd look different from day to day.

Now with MagiTerm I can copy & paste all I like and Doublesize mode makes things nice & big (and clear!).

That _is_ a pretty nice mode. Though I do tend to use the small window
because of being on a laptop without a second screen, and thus living with small windows.
