• What is NodeSpy.EXE and NodeSpy.ini

From Argos@21:1/203 to All on Fri Nov 22 06:40:12 2019
I was tinkering with my Mystic DEV site and noticed something called NodeSpy.EXE and NodeSpy.INI .... Could not find any documentation on this.
Can someone chime in and explain what this is and does?

    Hi Argos,

I don't use it much, but NodeSpy allows you to see who is logged onto your
BBS as well as other statistics and information without having to log in yourself. You can also snoop on users to see exactly what they are doing real-time (like in the old days of renegade etc). I suppose there are
probably some privacy issues with this particular feature and I don't use it personally. You can also break into chat with a logged in user too from this mode.

It is also a terminal that can be used to log into your BBS via telnet/ssh or to other boards as well. There may be other uses but I'm sure others can chime in with more information. It was probably a lot more useful in the past when there were lots of people logging on.

    Cheers,
    Mike
