• File in echomail directory

From Argos@21:1/203 to All on Fri Dec 20 21:41:48 2019
I noticed this evening there are two files lingering around my echomail\in directory. The first file is fb3fd100.th0 dated 12/19/2019 and the second is fd0c7900.sa0 dated 12/20/2019

Does anyone know what these files are? can I delete them, or is something not processing?

If they are empty you can just delete them.

What is the size of those files and can you decompress them from the
    command line?

Given 1/100 is feeding you packets via HPT and BinkD at present it may pay to check to see if there are packets inside those compressed files..

The file size is 1kb and if I open the file with 7zip the file is blank ..

    Hello Argos,

This is for Avon also, just mentioning what I have seen.

If they are empty you can just delete them.

    the command line?

The file size is 1kb and if I open the file with 7zip the file is
    blank ..

That is a problem. I also got something like that on monday. I got this file in
my inbound on monday from 4/100..

    -rw-r--r-- 1 alan alan 1008 Dec 16 11:12 0000fffa.mo0

When I list the contents of that file with unzip -l I see this..

    Archive: 0000fffa.mo0
    Length Date Time Name
    --------- ---------- ----- ----
    1432 2019-12-16 11:12 mystfsx-net4/echomail/out/temp/f7d77106.pkt --------- -------
    1432 1 file

When I try to unzip that file I see this..

    Archive: 0000fffa.mo0
    inflating: mystfsx-net4/echomail/out/temp/f7d77106.pkt
error: invalid compressed data to inflate
error: invalid zip file with overlapped components (possible zip bomb)

I also received 2, 22 byte arcmail bundles, both empty zip files. That was a bit later in the week, Wednesday or Thursday. 4/100 is now sending me raw .pkt files and I haven't had any problems since.

I haven't had any problems with archivers myself, so I don't know what the problem or solution might be.

I'll just leave it set to raw pkt files for now. It seems like that works
    best for everyone.

The problem is, the system is running Windows... Oooops, did I say that
out loud? That should have been a thought bubble... ;)

Those .pkt's get compressed on the fly anyway so you could leave it that way. There's really no need for archivers.

that out loud? That should have been a thought bubble... ;)

I'll leave that one alone.. ;)

The filenames would suggest that they are compressed mail files. Your Mutil logs should indicate what processing was done/attempted regarding the mail files.
You could also check if they are indeed compressed mail files by trying to uncompress them as they should likely contain mail packet (.pkt) files. Again your logs should show why the files were not processed properly.
