• Lightbar/grid menu setup

From Alpha@21:4/158 to All on Mon Feb 10 02:41:55 2020
I've got Mystic's lightbar menus working great, but when I set the menu type
to "lightbar/grid" and set the grid key to the intended menu IDs--it doesn't work. Lightbar doesn't move.

Am I missing something, or is there a trick to this? Thanks!

It could be broken I'll give it a test!

I found an issue and it was a really quick fix, so I am updating the
pre-alpha versions for Linux and Windows now that includes the fix.

    Thank you for the report!

Yes there is an issue. The ID is a not what you need to set it to as that
won't work. It's the actual item count number in the list of items.

I had this same problem. Say you add items, delete a few or insert a few so
the IDs are not in numerical order in the list:

    |20|15┌─|16|08┤ |08De|07ad|15be|07a|08tz b|07b|15s

Meant to save not send last but here is the example:

    BRE ID=1
    Lord ID=2
    FE ID=4
    Darkness ID=6

FE is ID=4 but it's item #3. So you need to set the grid move to 3 not 4 if
you were seleting down from LORD. I think this is a bug and maybe that's what g00r00 was referring to.

Hope this makes sense. Spend many minutes figuring this one out. I ended just blowing away the menu and inserting 30 entries before editing any of them so they were both sequential IDs and sequential in the list.

Brilliant. Thank you (and love this community).

g00r00, let us know if that is in fact the way it should be, or if that's the bug you were referring to?

    Cheers,

Same. When I was messing around with lightbars I ended up manually editing

I'm having an issue with Lightbar/Grid at the moment; the arrow keys are not working at all unless I set the menu to Lightbar (not Lightbar/Grid.)

Is that the issue you guys were talking about? If so, please explain how did you resolve it?

I apologize - I wish Mystic had a Refer# to find the source of a thread - for some reason, I'm not finding the original message in this thread.

I read something about editing the .mnu file and changing something - but I don't get it - those numbers don't make sense to me.

That's exactly the issue I'm having. g00r00 mentioned it possibly being a bug... I've just gone back to Lightbar until it's resolved.

I had also (incorrectly) assumed that Grid IDs mapped to the Menu item
IDs, but it looks like they actually refer to the ordered number of each
item. I actually assign my items using X/Y values, so the ordering trips me
    up.

Was thinking one way to remove ambiguity would be to have a field for each
menu item and assign it an order ID numeric value...?

    Alpha/Captain Obvious:

I tried changing the IDs in main.mnu, but it was a losing battle for me.

I resolved it by deleting all the commands, then inserting them back in 1 at
a time, inserting each additional command AFTER the previous one. That did
the trick, and I'm able to use LIGHTBAR/GRID again.

    Hooray!

Yes, there was one but its fixed in the latest releases.

No, thats not (supposed to be) true. They use the ID. If they didn't when you insert a new menu item it'd completely destroy your menu and you'd have to redo all of the jumps. It was just messed up in the A44 build but fixed in A45.

Yes. Or there should have been. I'll go compile new versions right now and put them up just in case I somehow screwed up last time. And if you still
have problems after upgrading to that let me know.

I added a "testgrid.mnu" to the default installation too and a link to it
    from the demos menu.
