String #8 displays "Username is already taken" for new users trying to
use a name that's already in use.
Instead of displaying the string, it's just clearing out the in-use name from the input and allowing the user to try again.
Seems fine on my board. Is this during new user logins? Did you change
any of the new user prompts? Maybe position on the screen or a clear screen somewhere?
Then at the new user application process, I change "asdf" to "Metalhead" (I'm asking for trouble - I know) and then it just clears "Metalhead" and lets me type something new, instead of saying "That name is in use."

I did the same on mine and it works fine so it must be the configuration vs a bug.
Is this during the standard questions when a new user is registering?
Where/how are you editing the string (ie, Theme editor?) and what theme
