I've been trying to setup a local BBS using a point instead of requesting another node as it'll be a closed system..

After a lot of poking, I've finally got binkd configured to send and receive packets to and from mystic bbs... Now I'm not sure what I need to do on the mystic side to get the packets sent from my local point bbs out to the rest of the world via my primary/BOSS node and imported into mystic..

If the point you setup is an fsxNet point setup off you fsxnet node.. when mail
arrives it will be tossed into your message base and sent on to your point. Also, when your point delivers new mail to your node those messages will be imported into your message base and send on to your hub.

    Hello Nitro,

I am also trying to setup a point of my mystic setup. where do I configure the point in the mystic -cfg?

Just add another linked node with the point number. You'll need to configure the point setup also to poll your node for stuff and vice versa.

    In Echomail Nodes.

Points are really nothing special, except for the following exceptions (which should automatically be handled in the background).

    1. They have a FTN address with a point number. For example, I have a point 3:633/410.1, which is linked to 3:633/410.

    2. In the BSO structure, points have a special directory called nnnnffff.pnt, where nnnn is the net number in hex and ffff is the node number in hex. Outbound mail for the point will be placed in this directory, with the filename of the ?lo and ?ut file corresponding to the point number.

I just setup my first point yesterday (both systems are Mystic). Everyting
was done in Mystic -cfg. Not sure if this is 100% correct, but this is how I did it:

    - Create your Point address in Networking > Echomail Addresses
    - Add the Point system to the Hub under Networking > Echomail nodes
    - Pay attention to BinkP setup - passwords, SSL, etc.
    - Add your Hub system's connect info, like you would connecting to any FTN Hub - Make sure on Hub that messages are exported to the Point system/vice versa

Only issue I had was a hiccup with BinkP connecting but that was just my own firewall config.

Hope that helps, or inspires someone to clarify or correct me :)

Yeah so, in your Boss' BBS config:
Add your Point's address/info in Networking > Echomail Nodes (e.g. mine is 21:4/158/1). This includes BinkP settings.

And in your Point's BBS config:
Add your Point's echomail address in Networking > Echomail Addresses.
Add the BOSS address/info in Networking > Echomail Nodes.

Then just make sure your Boss BBS has "Export To" for each message base to the Point's address, and the same exporting from the Point to the Boss.

Make sure BinkP and mail events are working as normal.

    That should be it!

Let me know if it doesn't work or if you need more help. I'm honestly not an expert, I just happened to put 2 + 2 together LOL :)
