    Greetings,

So I had someone helping me with my system and suggested that because mystic does aka matching I only need one netmail area for all 5 networks. However since he changed it I have two issues.

    1) all my previous netmail is gone.
    2) in the indexed view area Netmail still shows up under each network even those they have been removed in message base editor.

    Regards,

    Nitro

They are probaly stored with different filenames in your msgs directory.

That's odd. There must be remnants of the old config?

I wonder but don't know if restarting mis would help.

    Hello Nitro

Only way I know of loosing all your old netmails was to change filename
like mine is of course netmail.

As for showing groups s255g1|g2|g3|g4 and so on. this is how I like it.

Just throw in what ever group you want to have it show in: s255g1 (local)
s255g10 some networks and it would only show in network group 10

    Just a thought...

like mine is of course netmail.

So before going to a single netmail area each of my networks had a separate netmail area with all different file names ie FSX was netmail, fido was
fnmail etc. Can I go in and rename those files? to how I am naming them now?

    Unrelated?

Can I change the colors in this editor?

If you have one netmail base for all groups, you should only have one netmail filename. The rest are garbage.

That said, I'd caution you to pay attention to the real name vs alias rules
on various nets. I keep my netmail bases separate and this is one of my
primary reasons :) fidonet requires real names so you'd probably want to keep that netmail separate from networks that allow netmail with aliases.

Fidonet doesn't actually have rules around real names. The echo rules might have a rule like that but it's OK to use an alias in fido in several echoes, like MYSTIC, SYNCHRONET and a handfull of others.

Years ago I used to participate in an area called ANYTHING_GOES where alias's were allowed so some folks used an alias and other didn't. I still have that area here but it hasn't hasn't seen traffic in years.

I recently became the moderator of the DOOM (I love DOOM!) echo and when I updated the area in the echolist recently I droped talk of real names in the echo description. Alias's are fine in the DOOM area.

I get netmail from folks using alias's all the time. It doesn't bother me at all but I do use my real name in netmail depending on who I am talking to.

Interesting. :) Turns out fidonet is pretty huge and figuring it all out in
one fell swoop is tough. Thanks for the pointers.

I hope that is true some day!

The other day I took a hit on my geek side of two faced book where all the
sysop's hang out and one guy I have helped in the past wrote me for a
question he had and called me Pop's I was shocked thinking about it!

Talked to my Mom and she agreed at my age 66 it fits well. (dammit)

So again when I start loosing my mind from age, most likely I will
    be asking!!!!

Sure one way, I'd look in the folder and find the one with the largest kb,
file size. Then change all the others to that file name in mystic.

I really don't know what he was thinking but I'm sure some would say, you
    did what Greg?

Can I change the colors in this editor?

    Sure

I have all kinds of colors in my message areas and networks!

Go to your theme default or another then Options and go down the list on the
    right.

Another over ride is go to message base editor pick say Tony's network
go to a message area name hiy enter and right side of window pick your
    colors.

And then their is the default colors

Go to configation then message base settings and right side pick your
colors for all message area default settings.

    Hope that helps...
