I'm having some issues with MRC on my system. I have mrc_client running and directed to bottomlessabyss.net port 500. I can see chatter activity in my command prompt, but nothing shows up when I'm logged into the teleconference.
I try running commands line /whoon and i get nothing. Anyone have an issue like that before?

I did... it turned out to be a firewall issue for me. Once I opened the
client port I believe it started working.

I am getting the same problem on my system. It looks like the client is
unable to contact the server. I believe it is a server side issue.

Hey that makes sense! I'll give that a try. Thinking back now it did used to work before I had to replace my router. Thanks!

Well it just started workign for me. I opened up port 5000 in router configuration (although I'm not sure if that is required since I'm connecting to a remote server and not running the server piece). At first it didnt'
work, but after restarting mrc client a couple of times it suddenly started working!

    Hey bamageek,

I used to have MRC running on my board (Orbit BBS) awhile back. Is there a newer version of it available? If so, where may I get it?

The latest version of MRC that I know of of MRC is 1.11. I think I have it on my board (MRC_V11.zip). The latest client I have is 1.14 (mrc114sf.zip).
There may be some later ones but thats what I was able to find.

Your welcome! mrc.bottomlessabyss.net port 5000 seems to be the main one nowdays. I'm getting an error right now trying to connect so not sure if they're down at the moment but usually its up.

Yeah...I get a connection error when I try to connect. I'll try again later.

In the meantime, I'm calling around to some different systems to see what's happenin' :)

I just tried it again and it's up now.....but I'm not getting a response from it when I type a message. It doesn't show anything at all to let you know
    it's working.

Thats the problem I've been having. After a bit of trial and error it seems
to me that I have to be logged into the BBS and in the chat room when I start the chat client in order for it to work. Seems very strange! I've been trying to see if I could figure out a way to make the chat client connect when the user goes into the chat roon.

Yep started my first BBS there back in 1991. My folks still live down there. I'm in Verbena now about 90 minutes north.

That makes no sense. How can one be in the chat room if not using the chat client to get there?

Well there are two parts; The Chat client that you have to run to connect to the server (The mrc_client.py Script), and the Client script that you set up
in the menu that the user uses to go into the teleconference (The mrc_client.mps script).

Seems like if I'm logged into the BBS and in the teleconference when I run
the .py script it starts working. Still trying to troubleshoot a bit it does seem like if I log off and back on sometimes it stops working again.

I used the file you uploaded to Orbit yesterday (the Phenom file) and it's working like a charm.

The other one I was using, I think it was earlier version of MRC with a server.py and a client.py. I never could get that one to work correctly. It never would show whether or not I was connected and I could not see anything
I typed BUT I could see others messages.

It's all good now and working nicely. Next is to get IRC working again. Is there an updated IRC script available? The last one I had is several years
old and was from Pequito (I think).
