  • a47 Start Msg Pointers Option

    Hey folks, just wanted to make a post because we were discussing this feature a week or so ago.

    As of the newest 11-17-20 build of Mystic a47, the Start Msg Pointers option is LIVE in Mystic, and I just tested it out with a new user account...

    In Configuration, New User Settings 1 you'll find the bottom two options are

    Start Msg Pointers
    Pointer Value

    Options are:
    First Message
    End of Messages
    Last (Value) Messages
    (Value) Days Ago

    And it works really nicely; I currently set it to Last (Value) Messages and entered 10 in the value... that gives the new user 10 msgs in each msg base, and I think thats not too overwhelming.

    What values/options do you think you'll run for your new users?? Are you excited that this is making it into Mystic? I am.... cheers ladies n gents;

    I agree it's a nice touch to offer this. Hmm not sure something like the last
    X days I expect, not sure how many days though, it would depend on how active the echos were I suppose.

    how activethe echos were I suppose.

    Yea, I was also thinking days would be a good way - but hosting several FTNs, that all have different traffic, I settled on the 10msgs per base. I'll play around with it, and we have 4 options to choose from so I'm sure we'll figure out what works best in the future.

    IMO, anything is better than the full msg bases that a new user had to get thru in previous builds. *I* just learned that [END] took you to the end; I know new users didn't know that little morsel.
