• Question about Menu commands

From gcubebuddy@21:4/129 to Avon, black panther on Fri Jan 22 16:21:21 2021
    Hi guys,
i had a quick question... is there any document that has all the mystic menu commands? also when incorperatiing ANSI art, do i use the ANSI editor to
input the text commands dirctly into the ANSI file, or is there some other
way of setting up the menu commands out side of the ANSI file?
    thanks :-)

Another suggestion, would be to keep an eye on the whatsnew.txt file. g00r00 will note all of the changes into that file, and sometimes the information doesn't get added to the wiki.

Mystic comes with a "docs" folder that has a file called mystic.doc. It has them all in there I think, but a few of the newish ones are probably missing.

editor to input the text commands dirctly into the ANSI file, or is

You mean like | X X ? You should draw those with your ansi editor. TheDraw is good. When you're ready to add | X X (or whatever maybe | X X | I N 2 0) just turn on animation mode first (any style) and then draw the | X X (no spaces of course!) Then save it.

For example, if drawing a username prompt, do it like this:

Username: (turn on animation mode)| X X (no spaces)

    Unless you mean something else?

    wiki.mysticbbs.com/doku.php?id=menu_commands&s[]=menu&s[]=command

Or, just goto wiki.mysticbbs.com and search for 'menu_commands'.

If I understand the second part of your question correctly, it can be a bit of a... biscuit. :P I usually edit my ANSI file the way I want it, and set the line length to < 24... save. Then I open it with a text editor and insert "|CL" at the VERY beginning and "|PA" at the VERY end. You can add other commands that you need, like disallow canceling, or add pause or whatever else you need.

Advanced, you can like... change the fonts to Amiga by displaying the correct code, call a script or other things... but basically, I save the ANSI first... then add MCI codes with a text editor. It works for me best this way.

I hope that helped, as I'm not the best at describing things.

    Thanks ya that does help.
I have the first ansi file made, although people probably can tell i'm new to ANSi art. still getting the hang of shading lol. From what i have seen in the BBS community, there is alot of great art out there in ANSI.
