Is it a prompt that has to be changed for 5-digit message number display correctly in the Message Index Listing?

These can be a pain to find, yes...
I *think* this would be prompts 411 and 412:

I stumbled across this problem myself now. I thought I had adjusted the message numbers everywhere to show 6 digits, but apparently not. :-D

It appears this is defined by prompts 399-401 and themes/<theme
name or default>/text/ansimlst.ans.

I can't remember what 411-412 would be then -- perhaps some message scan result screen for local, private messages ("e-mails")...

This is super old, and Avon had addressed it in an even older post - but I just wanted to write b/c I 'fixed' this @ 2oFB today... I only changed 3 prompts, 399-401 as Zip suggested - it was simply changing the originals from "$L04" to "$L05"...

If anyone knows that 411-412 NEED to be modified, too, do reply - otherwise this is just an update of exactly what characters in prompts 399-401 need to be changed to see 5 characters for post #s instead of the stock 4.

Yep, it's easy to hit those limits these days. :)

(I still can't remember exactly what 411 and 412 are used for, and sadly there are no comments in the prompts.dat file either...)

LOL Very easy.. Back in the day when we were working with sub 100meg HD's message base weeds at least in my world were on a 3 month basis, today? I only limit my message bases to 5000 messages. Then again we have TB's of storage!!

Yep! I set no limit for my message bases (except for some robot echos) nowadays, as they take so little space anyway. :)

I remember when getting a sub-10 ms seek time 10 GB hard drive reduced the BBS daily maintenance by 10-15 minutes. :)

They are NOT sorted, but there is a lot of good info there. :P
And MPL docs, etc etc etc.... over the years they've grown to a nice collection.
