• Fido-like network config

Now that I have fsxnet working, (big shout out to Avon and Solaris for all their help!!!), I'm looking to setup some more networks and am curious about certain aspects of setting them up...

With fidonet, for example, you have to prove your bbs is setup to send
netmail before they will talk to you. That's fine, but is it actually
possible to send netmail BEFORE you have Binkp correctly configured and pointing to an existing hub? It seems to me that the first step is to setup an echomail address and a WORKING node BEFORE you can send that first netmail. It's not a big deal to me because I have fsxnet working, but for people starting from scratch, how can you send that first netmail without this in Mystic?

I'm also looking to setup Retronet and ArakNet... any insights for a
starting place will be greatly appreciated! Cheers

In the case of fidonet the old standard is to send a netmail to the NC from a temporary address like 1:123/9999.

I have recieved applications like that even recently but if you can get a hold of the NC by other means like email that should work as well.

I don't mind how folks get a hold of me for a node, email, netmail or phone.. it's all good! If the new node needs help getting setup I can do that too.

That sounds awesome... I applied to another z1 network, but haven't heard
back yet... part of the problem is that I can't tell if they got it or not. Since, I'm able to route through fsxNet, it should be ok. But, until I hear back I can't be sure. But, I understand... it's a hobby and you have to be patient. Thanks, for the quick response!
