• Disp File for a File Area

    Hello,

I want to show a specific fileheader for a file base. In the file base config there is a field (display file) where you can enter a file name that should be shown to the user before the actual file listing. I actually hoped this was instead of showing prompt 41 but that is not the case. But I cannot get it to work. What should be done is this:

    1. Enter file name in Display File field in a file base, lets say "h001"
    2. create a h001.asc and a h002.ans in /theme/default/text/
    3. login to bbs
    4. goto file base 1 and list files
    5. h001.xxx shows up, prompt 41 shows up, the file listings shows up ....

Anyone can confirm it is (not) working ? I am running Mystic version see below.

Don't mean to hijack your post, but what yer wanting to do sounds exactly like what Mystic's built-in File Base 'Display File' does.

In any file base, just edit it and insert a filename is 'Display File'... this shows right after the user presses 'L' and then prompt 041 comes after that. I like it because I can add a PA mci code and let the user take in whatever the Display File is telling the user.

Is this a fix for what yer trying to do???

I also heavily use fgroupX.ans, which displays an ASC/ANS file when a user joins a File Conference. (And groupX.ans, which is the same - but for Message Conferences.)

Again, sorry if I misunderstood - just sounds like exactly what you described above.

Not hijacking at all :) - But what you explain is what I tried to explain :) anyway, it does not work on my system. The Display File is not showing up unfortunately.

Weekend is arround the corner, so time to play with it a bit more!

Gee, I found the solution, the filename needs to be in capitals ... argh!

One thing that first threw me off is that Mystic does not display the file when you JOIN the File Area, but when you LIST the files in that area.
