Nothing really shows as wrong in the logs with fsxnet connection, but no mail is suspicious, I see messages flowing with my AlphaTest system and BetaTest fine and I see connections to fsxnet risa HUB:

I finally killed mystic (sudo killall mis) and reinstalled the mystic programs (sudo ./install replace /mystic)
That seems to have fixed the problems. The Pi microSD cards tend to wear out and things get corrupted. This one has been running some years now, seeing how long I can run and fix it before I start over again with a new microSD.

Ah! How do you start MIS? I use a systemd service for mine, so it knows if has already been started. I also let it call 'mis poll killbusy app' on startup, which will remove semaphore files such as mutil.bsy, which can otherwise stop any mail from being processed (at least for a certain amount of time).

I run two external programs (binkd and ifcico) for the actual mail transfers; otherwise I would let it call 'mis poll killbusy all' instead on startup, which would clear also any busy (.bsy) files in the outbound directories for outgoing calls (which would otherwise stop any polls from happening, at least for a certain amount of time).

I know the two mis daemons issue well; but never saw issue w/ fsxNet, or FTNs in general, because of them.

I'm not running as root. I run the starting scripts as root to get started but maybe because I run the mis telnet server on port 2323, I don't have any issues.

I can't wait for the next series to come out - but I don't think they're itching to release the Pi 5 anytime soon... I think between all the corporate purchases and end-users that can't find Pi's they just want to get the Pi 4 in stock.

I've been wanting a Pi Zero2W so bad - and I just can't find one anywhere... I'd love to trade, if anyone has a Pi Zero2W. :P

Yes the Pi3 can boot from USB. It was only the initial release of the Pi4
that couldn't, but that has now been made to also work.

So.. I have Comcast [Xfinity] and while they don't allow me to change the DNS server, for say.. a Pi-Hole, I can still access the network and ports and forwarding... are you certain you can't see your entire network? Hmm..

Second, for a NAS - or even just for connecting to a drive on a host Pi - I'd really suggest a Pi 4 because it has gigabit; much faster that the Pi 3... even on a 4, tho, you get some bottlenecks when accessing files over the network. I used a Pi 4 NAS for a couple years and really enjoyed it.

I actually did a write up on USB booting the pi3. Easiest method is to make a SD that sets the mounts points to an external drive. The SD only starts its a little then its all HD
