• Hub 3 Down Today

From deon@21:2/116 to All on Thu Jan 19 08:25:26 2023
    Hey Folks,

Hub 3 will be down today from 11am to 3:30pm (Aus Est Daylight Time) or less - so about 2.5 hrs from now.

My power company is doing some works :(

Here's hoping I remember how to start it all again :)

So it mostly all came back. First time in a long time (6-7 years) that everything was powered off - probably should do it more often so I know things will start again.

My IPv6 didnt come back properly - a problem that started when I switched ISPs last year, and they use PPPoE. I thought I'd sorted it out, but alas I had to remember what it was (MTU issues) and then figure out how to fix it.

Not confident that I've fixed it properly, time (or another power outage) will tell...

    wow, quite some time :)

I have been turning several systems on/off over about 5-6 days now, as I install and remove a power meter that tracks kilowatt hours used, amps, watts etc... just trying to get a handle on which of my systems running is using the most electricity and at what cost per month, per year. I've yet to crunch the numbers. Ideally would like to move some stuff over to a Raspberry Pi. Yet to monitor the Rpi but bet it wins :)

    Bummer floyd.

If you need a torch I can post one over ;-p

    Good you're back though :)

Well, I had that power outage, and no things didnt come back up properly. Mainly due though to me rejigging my network, bridging my switches and putting stuff over a VLANs (something, I've been meaning to do for a while).

I'm also aiming to do away with IPv4 completely - its annoying maintaining 2 network stacks, only to find that one is not working properly.

For users on this hub, IPv4 will still be available, I'm already doing NAT64 outbound and will implement something for inbound, which means it'll be IPv6 at the backend - should affect you though.

My UPS decided to scream at me at 6am this morning - that alarm that says the battery is dead and you have 10s to do something about it. Its a shame, I think the battery has gone - which is a surprise since it lasted about 2 hrs 2 days ago when there was an actual power outage.
