WX4QZ:
GE, Bob, and all on the net. Hope you
had fun reading the scribe from last
week (hi hi).
It has been busy. Mom was doing better
last week, but I was down with a bad
migraine sinus headache the last 3 days.
Had to go out on errands today. Can't
eat any onions until late next week
because of a prohibition on it and other
items due to surgery.
I'm having to type this in manually, as
I was working on other tasks, and didn't
have the time to prepare the deal, but at
least I figured how to copy and paste with
iptelnet and notepad.
We had 2 examinees test on Saturday. One
passed his Technician, and missed passing
the General by 3. Not bad for not having
even studied the material. He plans to
upgrade next month. Another examinee failed
the General twice...missed it by 1 the first
time, and 2 the second time. The problem??
He had studied the question pool that had
EXPIRED on June 30. So, he wasted his time
and money. He knows the material, but thta
(that) shows what happens when you don't
study the right material.
We look to have a stormy weekend coming up,
but the weather looks good for my bladder
stone surgery next Monday. I will NOT be
here next Monday night as a result.
Not sure how much longer my Mom will last.
I will try to go see her Tuesday, as I have
medical and other deals the rest of the week.
Yet, when your headache makes it hard to hold
your eyes open, you can't do much else.
That's all I can think of for round 1. B2U, Bob.>>>
2) In answer to your unsolicited editorial comment,
Bob....both.
The thing is, without the changes with the VEC,
the hobby would've been dead long ago...same as
if renewal meant re-testing.
The hobbies are my diversion right now...at least
I have 2 others besides ham radio so I don't get
burned out.
We'll see everyone again in 2 weeks. Didn't check
Outpost yet, and have had a problem connecting to
a CMS Telnet Server with Winlink lately.
Take care all, and I'll email the scribe shortly.

VA7RBP:
It was another good week, temps have been hot
96F today, and sunny. Sunny WX brings the
lightning....and then the fires. So far so good
I got my node back up and running just before
the NET last Monday. My connectivity problem was
due to me, upgrading to the latest BETA pilinbpq
software which didn't work for me.
I reverted to the previous version after fiddling
around for three days, and all came good. The HF
port is now in, but so far no testers. I can hear
several stations in Boise ID and Colorado, but
band conditions....
The moral of the story....only do one thing at a time.
Did some more antenna work, ran some RG58 to my 80
meter hamstick mini dipole to separate it from the
40 meter antenna. I was getting some funny SWR
behavior, both 80m and 40m appear to be playing
nice now.
Band conditions the last couple of days have
been really bad.
Oh well, will have to just keep trying. That's about
it for me, so BTU Bob >>>

KF5JRV:
1) The weather has turn hot. It is 88 right now. Looks
like the rest of the week will be a little warmer.
Jackie and I are having some allergy issues. Most
likely ragweed.
Still picking tomatoes, but they are slowing somewhat.
That is all I have for now. BTU Bob >>>
