    Hi there,

i spend many time in WinPoint and the problems, the program have.

After a while, the program dont will import any messages after a few polls.
My first idea, my BBS dont will move messages to the point anymore.
    But i was wrong.

In the message import folder were many files.
The error... Winpoint dont will uncompress files anymore... so you cant import the messages.
After manually uncompressing files, the tosser put the files and messages into the right place.

I think there is a compatiblity problem with windows 10/11 and the integrated unrar.dll.

In the menu, you can change the integratet packers to another program.
So i changed it first to winace and after that to 7zip and all worked well without any problem.

Nodelist also will importet and sortet. Pointlists are not available in fsxnet i think ?!

The last problem is the netmail.
You can send Netmails from Winpoint but incoming netmails dont will imported. It looks like, Winpoint cant see the Netmail folder inside the BBS ?

Next step is, to make a local test netmail folder with a echotag, so i can flag it inside Winpoint. Maybe i can solve the problem on this way ?

All configurations, inside the bbs takes no effect to netmail export to winpoint.

This was a little report :)

    Good Night

No, winpoint has no idea what is on the BBS. Netmail and echomail needs to be exported from the BBS as .pkt files. The BBS can send those files as they are (raw .pkt) files or compress them into a mail bundle. When winpoint (or any point program) receives those files it needs to toss them to the appropriate areas, netmail or echomail.

Next step is, to make a local test netmail folder with a echotag, so i can flag it inside Winpoint. Maybe i can solve the problem on this way ?

There is no area tag for netmail. That is a slight difference between echomail and netmail, echomail has an area tag (AREA:FSX_GEN, for example) and netmail does not.

All configurations, inside the bbs takes no effect to netmail export to winpoint.

I don't understand what/why is happening here. I have never had an issue exporting netmail or echomail to linked nodes or points.

This was a little report :)

And this is my reply, I hope it is helpful.

Just a few more thoughts on compression.

I always send plain uncompressed packets. For nodes that want compression I use zip. It is well tested and always works.

I have seen errors with rar compression with hpt. hpt reports a permanent error and the node or point will never receive that message. I will uncompress rar files if received but I never pack with rar.

That was not a Mystic error, that was my experience with hpt. Mystic may compress and uncompress with rar without issue, I don't know because I haven't tested it. That's just a heads up. I find zip/unzip to be a good safe choice.

    I hope it arrives.

Yes or no we will get to the bottom of this issue.. :)

Now, WinPoint works really good. But the Netmail thing really sucks.

If i send an Netmail to Areafix, i get an answer in Netmail from Areafix. That woks.

    Whats the difference ?

The unrar.dll is, what comes within Winpoint. But i think, there are problems with windows defender or other antivirus software, that downt like this old dll.

But you can use antoher commandline zip tool. Thats no problem.

Looks like you are sending 21:1/100 netmail for a point system. My HUB routes it back to you and you send it back to the HUB so it's just ping-ponging back and forth.

Perhaps your routing for point netmail is not set correctly as your system should be routing netmail to your point systems that hang off your main address and not send it to your 1/100 HUB.

this is correct advice from Al you should not be listing your point address for Winpoint on your BBS, that point address is for Winpoint only.

You should define Winpoint as an echomail node and assign it the 21:1/177.5 address in the echomail node setup.

Looks like im in a dead end :)

No Netmail to WinPoint. I have no more idears ?!

So what if at a command prompt you type

    mis poll route

    what does this display?

I think your setup is close to what it needs to be, no dead end in sight.

No Netmail to WinPoint. I have no more idears ?!

In the above situation, your BBS thinks that 21:1/177.5 is a local aka and will not send those netmails somewhere else.

Remove your point from your list of AKA's and restart mis and things will work better in that regard.

Once that is setup we'll see what happens with netmail getting to where it needs to go (or not).
