• Star Trek: Discovery season 5

Is anyone watching Star Trek: Discovery season 5? I heard it will be the last season. My wife and I watched the first couple episodes that appeared on April 4, and I'm actually surprised that they're following up on a Next Generation episode which had a fairly interesting premise and an interesting climax, but was one of those things that was never discussed again. Season 5 of Discovery looks like it should be a fairly good adventure.

Yes, there's been some chatter between a few of us already here about the last couple of episodes... in brief, they were very full on and also full of goodbyes etc... it's a scavenger hunt and save the world stuff... without giving too much away.

I look forward to episode three coming along in a day or so :)

I watched the first two episodes. I'm not hooked on this season yet,
Burnham seems like they're tailoring her character for Rayner to be a
    foil for her.

I suppose I really like Strange New Worlds and am judging Discovery
    against it.

    I think partly, I don't like 32nd century tech. I like the old-school
    feel of SNW.

I was shocked at how much weight Mary Wiseman has gained. You'd think
in the 32nd century they could do transporter liposuction or syntha-ice
    cream or something...

    I hadn't thought about that.

Strange New Worlds started after season 2 of Discovery. I thought it was interesting how they did that. I do like Strange New Worlds, and I feel like it's probably the best Star Trek series these days, even though I am tired of all the pre-Kirk sequels and reboots (JJ Abrams movies) they've done with Star Trek.

I liked the technology they had in The Next Generation, with the holodeck and replicators. Since The Next Generation came out, I sometimes wonder where they got food and beverages before replicators. But in series set earlier (such as Enterprise), I think they had mentioned matter synthesizers or something similar.
