My favourite game too. Still is.

I played it on a 386 DX/20 with 4M of RAM. Barely ran, barely, and initially with PC Speaker sound and Adlib music. Nevertheless, I liked the setting, the theme, and the immersion, despite the low framerate.

Mine would be the game that I first seen on a friends computer that made me go and get my own 486dx33, The game was Doom! Thought it was the coolest thing that I could call someone elses computer and play against them.

I liked playing Doom that way too. At the time, I was 13 and hadn't started working yet, so I couldn't afford to buy my own PC - but I had a hand-me-down PC with a 386SX-16 at the time (I don't remember how much RAM, maybe 2MB). Doom on that ran super slow, though not totally unplayable. I had to make the drawable screen size as small as possible in order to maximize the frame rate. Later, after I started running a BBS, I would sometimes play Doom over the modem with one of my BBS users, which was fun. That was in 1995 - and I think by then I had been given a hand-me-down 386DX-40 (on a new motherboard, which I had help installing in my PC at the time). Doom ran a bit better on that, but I think still a bit too slowly.

Unlikely it had 2M of RAM. Doom required a minimum of 4M to run, wouldn't run on anything else.

I ran it with 4M of RAM on a 386DX 20, in low detail, and had to shrink the screen size by one step, although when I got an SVGA card, I was able to run it, slowly, without shrinking the screen.

Haha. There's another game that can be a bit of fun with a few kids on board - "Windmills". Not sure if anyone else knows that one, but the goal is to try and spot windmills in the landscale. If one is sighted, whoever is first to yell "WINDMILL" gets a point. Bonus double points if it's running and "SPINNING WINDMILL" is said instead. :)

Now that's a good question. Last time I played the game, there were no wind turbines along the route, but in the last several years, they have become a lot more common.

Windmills for pumping water are common on farms here. They are generally on a triangular tower with a set of many blades arranged in a circle..
