    Any Final Fantasy XI players out there? I've run a private server for a
    couple of years now. Come play with us! We can always use some more bodies to throw at Fafnir ;)

    You can download the client from the official site. I've got some instructions up on my site - could use some work but should have what you need. Let me know if you have questions.

    My private FFXI server is capped at level 75. It's considered an "era" server, but it has quality of life things enabled, like home point crystals, movement speed matches current retail, mounts are enabled (with a slight increase in movement speed), login campaigns, some custom quests/rewards and more. The pacing is faster and more forgiving than retail was during its peak. Free to play, doesn't hurt to try ;)

    The server software is an open source project called LandSandBoat (formerally known as Project Darkstar).

    You can check my server out at https://www.madetoraid.com/ffxi/ and install instructions are at https://www.madetoraid.com/ffxi/install/ . My server is very low popultion, but the people who play are extremely helpful and welcoming and will do (almost) anything they can to help with missions, crafting, gear, etc.

    I've created a message base on my BBS for it, although I doubt it gets used much if ever. I've also started to do some integration between the BBS and the game - for example during the logon process of the BBS you will see the last 10 people to log into FFXI.

    Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help. We also have a discord server you can find linked from the website header navigation. If you need help installing or connecting, it might be a little faster to get help in there, and someone else might see it besides me :)

    I thought I replied to this, but maybe I didn't send it off...

    You download the client right from Square Enix. I have some instructions on my web site that should be enough to get you started.

    Once you download and install the client, you need to patch POL and FFXI. POL will patch itself - getting FFXI to patch requires a retail account *or* you download a patch file and place it in the right place in your FFXI installation folder and then you can use the "Check Files" option from POL to patch FFXI.
