I was given the game free, and paid for the upgrades, but when I went into my first mission I had no clue about the controlls and feel like why did i install this.

There should be a tutorial that shows how to play it. All the CIV games have them after 2. Its really a great game once you learn it. It is lengthy to get through a full start to finish non-campaign game.

yeah I just intalled it this past weekend myself. I was very suprised
about how much has been added to the game.. but it is 6 .... so I guess
there are things that would have been added. I did find it a bit much
though. Or at least much when I was still in the bronze age.

For some reason Civ 6 never grew on me as much as Civ 5. Maybe it was just the time and place I was in my life when trying to get into it, who knows. But to this day firing up Civ 5 is an absolute joy for me.

Years ago I spent a lot of time playing the first Civilication and Civilization 2. Several years ago I installed Civilization 5 and played it a bit, and I like it, though I felt like I could probably spend a lot of time playing it too, so I avoided it. :P I haven't tried Civilization 6 yet.

To this day I love the original Civ. I also love the original SimCity...the sequels are a mixed bag for me but the original game is endless fun for me.

Isn't the original Civ the one with the Gandhi bug?

Civilization and SimCity are a couple games where I think the next sequel improved on the games substantially. I thought Civilization 2 was great, and SimCity 2000 was great as well, and I probably played those a lot more than the original games. However, I never really got into any of the SimCity games after SimCity 2000.

That said, I think the original Civilization game is a bit easier to play. I started playing the original Civilization in DOSBox a couple years agn and was enjoynig it. I also liked the intro it had at the beginning.

I'm not aware of the Gandhi bug.. What is that?

I can't say I've ever actually played Civ 2...suppose it's high time I give that one a shot, eh? :)

SimCity 2000 introduced mechanics that changed the course of the game radically. I enjoyed the original SimCity of everything having an inherent block shape, and I never really adapted well to the concept of drawing out boundaries specifically for zones. Plus managing water used to piss me off, lol.

I have it on a native DOS machine and it's a trip. The intro on a CRT with a legit SoundBlaster is a lot of fun :)

I'm not aware of the Gandhi bug.. What is that?

They call it "Nuclear Gandhi" - the tl;dr is that AI Gandhi's aggression level is set to the lowest possible integer value of 1. Once Gandhi's government would adopt Democracy, the aggression value would decrement by 2, leaving Gandhi at a -1 (negative one) which doesn't make sense in the game mechanics. So what would actually happen is that Gandhi would suddenly become a super aggressive warmonger. Kind of funny.

I think it is similar to what happened to Master of Orion. The first was good.. the second, even better... and then the third... the things they
added to the game made it just more complicated. More of a "chore"...
    and so it flopped.

Though I did see a newer version of it on GOG... Loved every minute of
    that one. Highly recommend it.

yes I am a real fan of Master of Orion myself, and would agree that 1 and
2 were better than anything that followed.

I spend $20 on CIV 6 - so its no massive loss if I dont play it much..
but CHORE is a good word - I do find Civ6 more of a Chore than it should
    be I think.

Ok... so this is the version of Master of Orion I was talking about on
    GOG.....
    https://www.gog.com/en/game/master_of_orion

It's newer than 3... came out in 2016... and I absolutely loved it.
It comes as a standalone for $29.99 or as a collectors edition for $49.99
that includes the original 1/2/3 and some other extras.

Of course, no one ever pays full price on GOG, right? Stick it on your wishlist and wait for it to go on sale and get it for a steal like I did.

I recommend looking at the trailers and screens... It's great.
