• Is drinking water right before sleeping good or bad?

From Mike Dippel@999:1/1 to All on Tue Feb 10 21:59:18 2026
Consuming water at night has different consequences for people with varied health
    situations.

For those who have healthy statuses, it is advisable to consume an adequate quantity to
counter dehydration, while an excessive amount will lead to disrupted sleeping moments
    due to frequent urination.

For patients with kidney disorders or heart complications, it is advisable to limit fluid
consumption at night to prevent complications.

For seniors, urinating frequently increases accidents such as falling.

Overactive bladder disorders will worsen if patients consume water before retiring to
    bed.

People should drink water earlier in the daytime if they experience frequent urination at
night or if they have dehydration symptoms; it is advisable to contact a doctor.

    Mike,

Consuming water at night has different consequences for people
    with varied health situations.

Being borderline type 2 diabetic, and having congestive heart
failure, with being on Lasix, it usually means several overnight
trips "down the hall". Lately though, I've been able to sleep
through the night (albeit with crazy dreams, or nightmares from
my former jobs), and I can just go void in the morning.

There is an app called "Happy Poop", that I got from the Google
Play store (it may be available in the iPhone store), that measures
your urine and fecal output...and for the ladies, your menstrual
flow, and pregnancy mileposts. You can note what color the excrement
was, and if there were other symptoms with either one or both.

Other apps I have include Medical ID, which has my prescriptions,
allergies, and other things...then MedM, which has selected vital
signs over the last several months.

All of these are worth the registration fee, even if it's billed
annually. This way, no more printing up a 30 page medlist, wasting
all that paper and ink. Now, all the medical stuff is on my
    smartphone.

    Daryl
