Whole foods.
You can't beat them.
And if you don t know what whole foods are, they are foods that haven t been ultra-
processed. For example, take the following foods:
A protein shake is a highly processed form of protein, whereas an egg is a whole food
source of protein.
And for a fun fact, did you know eggs are the most biologically complete form of protein
you can eat?
No other protein source trumps them.
Also, take a processed carbohydrate like candy, which contains 0 micronutrients,
compared to a whole food source of carbohydrate, like fruits and vegetables, which
contain essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function at its best.
Lastly, take a highly processed form of fat like margarine. A healthier, whole food form of
fat would be eating meat, which contains some saturated fat as well as protein (eggs
and dairy also contain saturated fat and protein), or you could eat nuts, which are an
excellent source of dietary fat.
These are much healthier than highly processed fats like margarine and contain much
more nutritional value. However, try not to consume too much saturated fat. I like to
keep saturated fat to about 10% of my diet.
