    This is a dream come true. The old TradeWars game has awesome nooks and crannies from players that built empires. The new TradeWars game has settings that cause all port pairs to be perpetually drained; I built my new empire strictly off of growing planet populations rather than trading. And the Ferrengi never threaten to steal your cargo or holds, they just blow you away. Not sure if that is a TWGS feature or what. Sure, the new TW gives you 1K turns per day, and you think you can build an empire with that, but the universe is elbows to axe holes, especially around StarDock.
    I just tested the old TW on the main menu option 7 and found it sound, though
    I will have to recover all my maps and notes from June.
    I learned a lot about TW strategy in the new game, for sure. I was trying to grow planets that would harrass the Ferrengi to a point where I might make inroads to conquering Ferrengal by November. But I've got my old empire back, man. I'm going to clean up a lot of mess that I left with extra planets, etc. This is a wonderful gift.

    I haven't played TW2002 a whole lot, so I'm wondering if that is something missing from the game now, or were those your own notes you had taken?

    Updating DOSEMU to a new version is what allowed the original DOS TW2002 to run, so I'd like to remove the TradeWars Game Server setup I have, as that's running in a Windows virtual machine. I remember you were one of the people playing that, and it sounds like you'd prefer the original TW2002 over TWGS?

    I agree that there is certainly some TWGS-specific behavior there. The Ferrengi were coming on way too strong.
