Has anyone actually payed attention to the drum beats in TOOLS music. He does some of the best drumb beats I have ever heard! Asside from the song Tom Sawyer By Rush, and Zeppelin. I know some of the new bands are fast at blast beats. If you have heard one blast beat though, you have heard them all.

Isn't there something wicked atypical about Maynard's percussion, like being an odd #ed tempo, like 4/3 or something? Forgive me, my lack of musical knowledge is no doubt showing, but I'm interested in this, as well, especially with his insertion of esoteric knowledge and subjects into the music.
