Remastered Rush CDs

Hi all -
Is anyone here a fan of Rush? One thing I've wondered about is the
remastered Rush CDs, which started to be released in 1997. I've ended up replacing my Rush collection with the remasters, but I noticed that for many of the albums, the sound quality on the remasters was only marginally better.
It was hard to tell the difference, as they sound almost identical to me. When I was comparing their albums, though, my collection of Rush albums was pretty much Moving Pictures and onward, so I'm not sure how the remasters of their earlier albums compare to the originals.
I was hoping that the Presto remaster would get a bigger improvement, since the original sounds rather flat. However, the Presto remaster still sounds flat.
So my question is, what exactly did they do when remastering the Rush albums?
